NEW YORK – Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York during his visit this week.

FM Bruno thanked the Secretary-General for the opportunity to meet and briefed him on the daily reality faced by the Cuban people.

In the meeting, Rodríguez Parrilla denounced what he called the “criminal energy siege,” the intensified US economic blockade, and secondary sanctions imposed by the US government. He stated that these measures have a direct impact on Cuban families, public services, and the country’s energy security.

The Foreign Minister reiterated Cuba’s call for the immediate and unconditional lifting of the blockade, and urged greater international solidarity to address the humanitarian and economic challenges caused by the sanctions.

Secretary-General Guterres reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to multilateralism and to principles that protect the well-being of civilian populations affected by unilateral measures.

The meeting took place as part of Cuba’s diplomatic engagements at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
