Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has described Palestine as “the moral compass of our time,” saying the ongoing crisis represents a defining test of unity and conscience across the Muslim world. His remarks underscore Ankara’s increasingly vocal stance on the Gaza war and broader Palestinian struggle.
Speaking at a regional forum, Fidan said the scale of suffering in Gaza has exposed deep fractures in the international system and highlighted the failure of global institutions to protect civilians. He argued that the Palestinian issue is no longer just a regional conflict but a global moral challenge.
Fidan urged Muslim-majority countries to move beyond rhetoric and demonstrate tangible unity through coordinated diplomatic, humanitarian, and economic actions. He warned that divisions among Muslim states weaken their collective influence and embolden continued violations of international law.
The Turkish foreign minister also criticized Western governments for what he described as double standards, accusing them of selectively applying human rights principles. He said Türkiye would continue to advocate for accountability and an immediate ceasefire.
Türkiye has emerged as one of the most outspoken critics of Israel’s actions in Gaza, while also pushing for increased humanitarian access and diplomatic engagement. Fidan reiterated Ankara’s support for a two-state solution and called for renewed international efforts to revive meaningful peace talks.
Analysts say Fidan’s remarks reflect Türkiye’s broader ambition to position itself as a leading voice on Muslim unity and global justice.
