JOHANNESBURG — The Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to South Africa, H.E. Carlos Feo Acevedo, welcomed his meeting with the President of the Pan-African Parliament, H.E. Dr. Fateh Boutbig, describing the engagement as an important step towards strengthening friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Venezuela and the African continent.
Addressing the media following the meeting, Ambassador Feo Acevedo expressed the gratitude of the Venezuelan Government and people for the solidarity conveyed by President Boutbig following the devastating earthquakes that recently struck Venezuela.
“We are deeply grateful and honoured to have met with the President of the Pan-African Parliament, who expressed his solidarity regarding the devastating earthquakes suffered by our country,” Ambassador Feo Acevedo said.
The Ambassador said the meeting also produced a shared commitment to deepen relations between the Pan-African Parliament, the Venezuelan Parliament and the people of Venezuela.
He emphasised that both sides would work to translate this commitment into concrete actions.
“We deeply appreciate these commitments, and we will work hard to ensure that they are transformed into concrete actions,” he said.
Ambassador Feo Acevedo highlighted the broader importance of strengthening cooperation between Africa, Venezuela, Latin America and the Caribbean. He noted that these relations should extend beyond parliamentary engagement to include practical cooperation supporting national development and improving the well-being of the respective peoples.
“The relations of friendship and cooperation between Africa and Venezuela, as well as Latin America and the Caribbean, are essential to advancing the development of our countries and the well-being of our people,” the Ambassador stated.
He expressed Venezuela’s appreciation to the Pan-African Parliament and its President for receiving the Venezuelan delegation and reaffirmed his country’s determination to strengthen the historic bonds of friendship, solidarity and South–South cooperation with Africa.
The engagement underscored the shared commitment of Venezuela and the Pan-African Parliament to deepening parliamentary diplomacy and building stronger cooperation between Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
