Myanmar’s conflict-hit Rakhine State witnessed another deadly escalation on Tuesday after a military airstrike targeted a local hospital, killing at least 30 people and injuring dozens more, according to local media and humanitarian workers.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attack occurred while patients, including women and children, were receiving treatment inside the facility. Videos circulating on social media showed destroyed medical equipment, collapsed walls and civilians frantically searching for survivors under the debris.
Human rights groups condemned the strike, calling it a “war crime” and accusing the military of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure. International organizations have demanded an urgent investigation and unrestricted humanitarian access to the affected area.
Myanmar’s military government has not issued an official statement, while local resistance groups say the attack reflects the armed forces’ growing desperation as fighting intensifies across the region.
