VICTORIA — Mayor of Victoria Mrs. Josy Ita Michaud-Payet has welcomed Cuba’s Ambassador to Seychelles, H.E. Mrs. Iraida de la Caridad Guerrero Zúñiga, for talks on strengthening bilateral cooperation on Thursday, o2 July 2026.
The discussions focused on the excellent Seychelles-Cuba relationship and cooperation in community and cultural programmes.
Both officials exchanged views on the upcoming event, “Cuban Hearts, Seychellois Spirit: A Day of Unity and Physical Culture.” The initiative aims to celebrate friendship between the two peoples through sport, culture, and community participation.
Mayor Michaud-Payet said Victoria is committed to supporting initiatives that promote unity, healthy lifestyles, and cultural exchange. Ambassador Iraida reaffirmed Cuba’s readiness to work with local authorities to make the event a success.
Cuba and Seychelles maintain close ties in health, education, and culture, built over decades of cooperation.
