PARIS — French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to France, saying the visit aims to strengthen the partnership between South Africa and France and advance joint action on peace and multilateralism.
In a message posted on X, President Macron wrote: “Welcome to France, dear President Cyril Ramaphosa. Happy to welcome you to strengthen the partnership between South Africa and France and act together for peace and a fairer multilateralism.”
The welcome comes as President Ramaphosa undertakes an Official Visit to France that includes a business programme focused on trade, investment, infrastructure and cooperation in key sectors including water, rail and health.
The two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral economic relations as well as global issues, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to a rules-based international system and cooperation in multilateral forums.
The visit forms part of efforts to deepen South Africa-France ties across economic, scientific and diplomatic areas.
