PRETORIA — South Africa’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Blade Nzimande, visited the Embassy of Cuba this week to advance bilateral cooperation.
The Minister met with Cuban Embassy officials to discuss ways of further strengthening relations between the two countries. Areas of focus included science, technology and innovation cooperation.
During the visit, Prof. Nzimande reaffirmed South Africa’s full support for Cuba amid tightening United States sanctions.
He said South Africa stands in solidarity with the Cuban people and continues to oppose measures that impact Cuba’s development and international engagement.
The Embassy welcomed the engagement, noting that scientific and technical collaboration remains a key pillar of Cuba-South Africa relations.
