PRETORIA — Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola has welcomed Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski and his delegation to South Africa for official bilateral discussions.
Addressing the delegation, Lamola said, “Thank you, Minister Sikorski, for taking time from your busy schedule to honour the invitation I extended to you to visit South Africa. We warmly welcome you and your delegation to South Africa.”
He noted the timing of the meeting against a backdrop of global instability. “We are meeting today at a critical period in global history. Instability and conflict are appearing around the globe all too frequently, and the scourge of transboundary challenges such as climate change is impacting all humanity and especially those living in the developing world,” Lamola said.
The two ministers held “very fruitful discussions” on issues affecting South Africa-Poland bilateral relations, and exchanged views on regional and global matters of mutual concern.
The engagement is expected to focus on strengthening political, economic and multilateral cooperation between Pretoria and Warsaw, including positions within the United Nations, G20 and other international forums.
