PRETORIA — Venezuela commemorated 215 years of independence today at the Pretoria Art Museum with a ceremony attended by members of the diplomatic corps and government officials today on Monday, 06 July 2026.
The event honored Venezuela’s declaration of independence on July 5, 1811, and paid tribute to victims of the recent earthquake that struck the country.
Ambassador of Venezuela to South Africa addressed guests and spoke on the importance of bilateral relations and solidarity during the period of national mourning. Deputy Minister in the Presidency Kenny Morolong also delivered remarks reaffirming South Africa’s support.
The ceremony included the national anthems of Venezuela and South Africa, followed by a family photo with members of the diplomatic corps.
Venezuela’s Embassy in Pretoria hosted the commemoration to mark the historic milestone and express gratitude to South Africa for its support.
